Breast Augmentation:
Is It Right for You?

Are you unhappy with naturally small breasts?

Are your breasts asymmetrical?

Have you lost breast volume because of breastfeeding, weight fluctuation or aging?

Will you feel more feminine and attractive with larger breasts?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, breast augmentation may be right for you. You are not alone — every year, hundreds of thousands of women all over the country enjoy more voluptuous breasts, thanks to breast augmentation surgery.

About Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast surgery is a personalized experience that is tailored to your unique needs. Together, you and your breast surgeon must decide what size/shape implants to use, where the implants will be positioned and where the surgical incisions should be made. Each of these decisions will have a different effect on the overall outcome. Whether you’d like subtly-enhanced, natural-looking breasts or large, dramatic cleavage, there is an implant perfectly suited to your desires.

Our team at The Georgia Institute For Plastic Surgery uses implants that are FDA-approved for safety. Our surgeons may make the surgical incisions in the breast crease, around the nipple or in the armpit; they will then position the implant either above or beneath the chest muscle. Your surgeon will develop a treatment approach based on his professional recommendation and your personal preferences.

Types of Breast Implants
Implants come in different sizes, shapes and materials. In order to serve the needs of a diverse clientele, our team offers several breast implant options — including the new form stable “gummy bear” implants.

Implant Shape: What type of effect would you like? If you’d like more noticeable results, choose round implants, which project further from the breast for a more noticeable effect. Teardrop-shaped implants mimic the slope of the natural breast shape.

Implant Size: Our plastic surgeons will help you select the implant size most appropriate for your body type and cosmetic goals. Depending on your preference, you can opt for a smaller, more natural-looking implant or a voluptuous, larger implant.

Fill Material: The fill material will affect how your breasts feel after surgery: soft or firm to the touch. In addition to offering traditional saline and silicone implants, The Georgia Institute is one of the first practices in Savannah, Georgia, to offer form stable “gummy bear” implants, a new generation of silicone implants that were approved by the FDA in February 2012. “Gummy bear” describes the texture of the implants when held outside of the body. You may notice that silicone implants feel more similar to natural breast tissue than saline.
